“Nature is part of my soul; the color pallets, patterns, and ever changing aspects of the natural world provides me with endless inspiration and exploration.”
-Christy DeWitt (George), 2021
Christy is a versatile and educated artist with a depth of experience. Her focus in the arts was sharpened when studying at Emma Willard School. Her focus became trained through painting, photography and weaving. Christy went on to attend the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) where she earned a 4 year BFA, with a major in textile design. Her degree project explored the integration of design and complex weave structures on the Jacquard loom. For the next decade Christy went on to establish herself as a successful textile designer in the foreign and domestic upholstery industry. To bring it all full circle, Christy went on to achieve a MAE which further developed her studio art practice. Christy continues to evolve as an artist in her own right through the exploration and blending of design, fine art and nature. Christy expresses her creative vision through hand-tinted natural prints, watercolor painting, Eco printed wearable art and fiber art sculptures.
